Community Music Schools of Toronto (CMST) was thrilled to appear on Breakfast Television, sharing a glimpse into the music, energy, and impact happening every day across our programs.

On April 30, Breakfast Television reporter Carlos Bustamante visited CMST to highlight the heart of CMST’s work: providing free, high-quality music education opportunities for children and youth in Toronto’s priority neighbourhoods.

The segment featured live performances and interviews with students from our Tabla and DJ programs, along with reflections from CMST Executive Director Richard Marsella. Viewers also heard from CMST faculty members Gurpreet Chana and Oscar Betancourt, who lead the Tabla and DJ programs respectively, offering insight into their teaching practices and the unique learning environments they help create.

The segment offered viewers a snapshot of the vibrant community behind CMST – students from a wide range of musical backgrounds learning, creating, and performing together each week. It also provided an important platform to highlight the role of community-based arts programming in strengthening neighbourhoods and supporting youth development.

We are grateful to the team at Breakfast Television for the opportunity to share our work and to our students, faculty, and families who continue to bring energy, dedication, and inspiration to everything we do.

If you missed the segment, you can view it on the Breakfast Television website.
